We have chosen to incorporate the use of draft animals as a part of our farming practices. 

1. Reduce our dependency on petroleum based fuels.
2. Increase our dependency on others.  (Farming with draft animals is most successful when accomplished with the help of other people. Amish communities limit their technology to foster interdependence among the group. A worthy goal in a society that glorifies "independence" and "individuality".
3. Preserve the craft of farming with draft animals.  There are still a few elderly folks who grew up on farms powered by draft animals.  Their knowledge and skill is soon to be forgotten.
4. The production of quality fertilizer for farm uses.

We miss the boys but they are now working on a small organic farm in Geyserville, Ca.  Our dream of horse farming came to an abrupt end in 2011 and we decided to adopt the boys out to a new home.
