Greenhouse Project

Thanks to a bunch of wonderful volunteer helpers we have the basic structure completed.  Another greenhouse "raising" day is planned for the 6th of June.  The greenhouse is 20 X 50 feet and the height is 12.5 feet.  About $1,900 of the cost of this greenhouse is from a USDA grant to help small farmers experiment with season extenders.  The full cost of the greenhouse is under $3,500 in case you are wondering.

 NEW EMPLOYMENT

Teale is currently working a new part time job as a Hazardous Materials Specialist for the County of Lake.  In this position he is advising local businesses about hazardous waste and hazardous material management.  Teale says he is  working with a great staff at the Environmental Health Department in Lakeport.   The schedule is great and allows him to continue making produce deliveries for the COOP and to do some part time farming.

Shop - Storage Building

Thanks to some help from Eric Davis and Doug Mooney the utility building we started last summer is coming along.  We were donated  all the materials needed for the roof. Trusses, blocking, sheeting, fascia, etc.  Even a wonderful cupola for the top.   We have plenty of used metal for the sides left over from our barn construction several years ago.  We also found the     4 X 10 OSB sheeting for the sides on Craigslist for 1/2 price!

The building will house all the tools used for repairing and fabricating farm machinery.  We will also be able to store boxes, marketing supplies, our commercial refrigerator, and garden hand tools.. A roof off the back of the building will provide shelter for our tractors and farm equipment and our fire wood.   Finally out of the weather!
